What To Expect On Your First Driving Lesson ?
It's normal to be excited but quite nervous too.
There's no need to worry though. At Alpha Driving School, Derry, you'll never be expected to drive away from, or back to your house, on your 1st lesson.
You'll be driven as a passenger to a quiet location away from any traffic. On the way there, we'll have a chat about your previous experience, to paint a picture of how best to plan the lessons to suit your abilities.
I'll demonstrate how to use the hand and foot controls as I drive along. By the time we get to the location, you'll already have a little idea & fewer nerves too.
By the end of your 1st driving lesson you'll be able to:-
Adjust your seat and mirrors correctly,
Get to know all the hand and foot controls,
Start the engine safely,
Drive along smoothly, keeping the correct distance from the kerb, & stop the car safely. You'll be able to select a safe, legal and convenient place by yourself, when pulling up on the left.
I'll always use up-to-date diagrams, visual aids and photographs from your very 1st lesson, to make things as simple as possible to understand.
At the end of the lesson we'll recap on everything that's been covered.
We'll arrange the next lesson date, and chat about what new skills you'll be able to achieve by the end of your 2nd lesson.
What To Bring With You On Your 1st Lesson?
1) Your provisional licence, (the paper part and the photographic counterpart).
2) A pair of glasses if needed. You'll need to be able to read a car number plate at a distance of 67 feet, which I'll check.
3) Comfortable shoes.
